Trauma-informed practice in education focuses on understanding the impact of trauma, supporting affected pupils, and creating inclusive and safe environments.
Trauma-informed approaches to behaviour start by asking “what has happened to you?” rather than “what have you done?”. The National Education Union have produced a free trauma-informed toolkit for schools that outlines why this approach is so essential to addressing the issues of challenging behaviours.
You can find all the resources you need and plan your activities for the week here: Schools – Children’s Mental Health Week.
