Pupil Wellbeing Survey
Since 2014, Public Health Devon have commissioned a school-based survey to understand the behaviours, experiences, and perspectives of children and young people in relation to their health and wellbeing.
The survey is offered to years 4, 6, 8, and 10, and in 2024 it was broadened to include year 12, as well as a sample of learners who are electively home educated or not currently attending school. This provides unique and valuable insight from a large sample of young people across the county, enabling identification of priority work areas.
What does the survey cover?
The survey is very comprehensive covering a wide range of topics, including:
- Demographic characteristics
- Home life
- School experience
- Nutrition and food
- Activity and movement
- Relationships and sexual health
- RSE (relationships and sex education) and PSHE (personal, social, and health education)
- Drugs, alcohol, smoking, and vaping
- Safety
- Bullying
- Emotional health and wellbeing
- Leisure activities
